The British government is ready to advance with employing the total value of immobilized Russia's funds to support Ukraine's defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this unified step would escalate tension on Russian President Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to participate in talks.

They added that the decision would be implemented in strong partnership with the US.

British sanctions have blocked more than £25bn of Russian funds since Russia began its widespread offensive against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. But, previously, money sent to the Ukrainian government using Russian assets had only been sourced from profits and interest generated on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were united in their aim to push forward toward utilizing the total worth of the immobilized Moscow's national assets to end the war.

He added that additional measures over the next period would increase the strain on the Russian government.

This declaration follows European officials convened in Copenhagen previously to discuss utilizing seized Russian funds for a €140 billion loan to the Ukrainian nation.

Recently, President Donald Trump encouraged Group of Seven partners to confiscate or employ immobilized Russia's assets, as reported by media sources.

The worth of immobilized Russia's funds in the European Union is calculated to be almost €211bn.

President Zelensky calls on Britain's Sir Keir Starmer to participate in the Purl program

The Russian government executed large-scale aerial attacks throughout Ukraine on Friday, causing blackouts in many areas of Kyiv, the city, and several other zones.

Two people were killed and at least 20 people were injured in the strike, authorities in Ukraine stated.

In a message on social media following the incident, Zelensky commented that the cynical and calculated attack aimed at public and utility structures.

"The necessity is not mere statements but concrete steps - from the United States, the European Union, and the G7 - in providing air defence systems and implementing sanctions," he stated.

"All penalty impositions undermines Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky declared, in a different message.

Also on Friday, Zelensky stated to media outlets he would urge Sir Keir to participate in the PURL programme, under which alliance members purchase military equipment from the United States to give to Ukraine.

While applauding the UK's consistent assistance for Ukraine, he noted it should send a clear signal that it would engage in the program, as well as enforce additional sanctions on the Russian Federation.
