Christantus Uche Sparks Comfortable Palace Victory at Shelbourne.
Even though entering their maiden continental adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Without key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.
A further victory in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal direct passage to the knockout stages, particularly following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Moment
This match provided a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second consecutive succession.
A Shelbourne team that had finished their league season were no match even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.
Dominance Established from the Start
In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward finish.
Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the official waved away the protests.
Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had struck the post.
The home side were clinging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
