Iran Claims Attack on US Base in Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a large-scale and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is uncertain and the American officials has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.
Officials reported debris fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
