Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before sprint qualifying scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, sitting 36 points Norris, ended up in 17th place as his team followed a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he spun at corner four during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before spinning across the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho turn approaching the final bend on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th place, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's car P3, over half a second behind Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
