Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Humiliation
The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's expected for questions to be asked about his future following another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.
The Reds endured their 9th loss in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.
They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at Anfield.
“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from above,” Slot commented.
“It's important to turn it around and earn three points obviously but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”
He continued, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.”
Discussions with Club Management
Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach revealed:
“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”
He mentioned, “Through standard conversations we have I sense the trust. But I've not talked to them after this match yet so we'll see.”
Recurring Problems and Player Response
Slot highlighted familiar failings from his team in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.
Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.
“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.
“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”
He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”
“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a spell such as this with performances this poor.”
He stated, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we'll continue to compete.”
“Our aim is to help the side return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the world.”
“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
