The Details Known Concerning the Victims of the Bondi Terrorist Incident

A minimum of 16 individuals perished and in excess of 40 were wounded when gunmen opened fire at a Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach, an incident local authorities have labeled a terrorist attack.

Schlanger and his wife had recently celebrated the birth of their newest son in October.

Alexander Kleytman

Alexander Kleytman was also among those killed, according to his wife.

She told the events leading up to the attack, saying they had been standing together when the shooting began. “He shielded me because he wanted to stay near me,” she recalled.

The pair were both survivors of the Holocaust, having experienced immense hardship in their youth. They had subsequently moved to Australia from Eastern Europe.

The French foreign ministry have confirmed that French man Dan Elkayam is among the dead.

In a statement, a senior official expressed that France stood with his family, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.

Those Injured

From the 42 people transported to hospitals, many remain under care, with several in a critical state. Those hurt comprise two officers who responded to the attack.

A casualty is a member of the public who rushed to the scene to tackle one of the gunmen. Described as a local hero, he received gunshot wounds but is in stable condition in hospital.

“I thought it was rubber bullets, but it’s gone into my own skin and into my leg,” he explained. “I was hit. I received first aid. I’m ok.”
