The Streaming Giant Chooses Perfect Performer for Mr. 2 in One Piece Third Season
Baroque Works is set to exert significant influence in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, even if the major clash isn’t set to occur until the next season, and a beloved, popular member has just been cast.
The streaming service revealed Tuesday that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece season 3 cast and will embody Mr. 2. The role has the ability to morph into an identical duplicate of anyone they’ve made contact with with their dominant hand. Escola, who is identifies as non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will depict a rendition of that character re-envisioned as gender non-binary, rather than as a drag artist, in the live-action show, unlike the original manga and cartoon version.
This performer is joined by several other fresh additions who will portray the group to life, featuring head Sir Crocodile, portrayed by the well-known actor, Sophia Anne Caruso as another operative, and an accomplished actor, who also joins the ensemble as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.
Although Bon Clay is a important part of the organization, the character won’t make their debut One Piece the upcoming installment. Given the next season set to cover the Little Garden storyline, this represents a major departure in the placement of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could suggest further changes to the narrative framework.
Escola’s blend of sharp comedic timing and deep sensitivity makes them a standout choice for the role. Besides their current animated role in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and several accolades for writing and starring in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, highlighting the range they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s widely praised roles.
The streaming service’s real-life One Piece show is set to return for its season two on the tenth of March, 2026.
